Results...

Well...I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed in myself, but I really am not surprised. I lost 1 lb this week. I know it's because I only worked out once since last Thursday and because I started eating more "carbs"...which is allowed, but maybe I added too many? So I'm going to back off a little and eat just 3 per week instead of one a day. We'll see where that takes me for next week. I'm also going to up my workouts. I have "The Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga" on DVD and I'm going to start doing that as soon as I get my hine-y off the computer. So...here I go!

A pound is a pound, right? At least I'm still heading in the right direction! That makes a total of 17 lbs!

I can't decide..

..what hurts more: my abs, my hamstrings or my pecs. I'm SOREEEEE from that monster of a workout from last night! It's totally a "good" sore, but sore all the same.

I woke up at 3:30am and got to the bookstore at 3:45. Baked for a couple hours then came home and crawled back into my bed. I was soooo thankful that my boy decided to sleep in until 9 AM!!! Addy came and crawled into my bed around 8 and cuddled with me till I was fully awake. She's such a good cuddler!

I got so much accomplished today! I did 5 loads of laundry (YUCK! I HATE LAUNDRY!!!) and then I decided it was time for a change in our bedroom! Oh yes! I moved everything around, cleaned out the closet, got rid of 3 boxes of CR*P and even bought new curtain rods for Phil to hang (which he did this evening when he got home...love it!). My room looks twice as big as it did before! If you've ever seen my room, it's pretty big in the first place...but I arranged everything differently. It's amazing how a little movement can completely change a room. Poor Phil though. He hates it when I rearrange because he says it "screws with his sleep!" Sorry babe, you'll be fine! :-)~

I then decided it was time to go purchase some paint for my dining room wall. I grabbed the kids, my phone and a bag, shut the door then *SMACK!*, realized I freakin' left the keys in the house!!! Sh*t! Thank goodness I had my cell! I promptly called my wonderful sister, Jenn. She has keys to my house and thank goodness she was in town! I then had a panic because we changed the lock on the back door and she doesn't have a new key! But then, I remembered I had left the front door un-latched! PHEW! Sister Jenn to the rescue!

I promptly left the house, went to Wal-Mart, had 3 new keys made for the back door and purchased the new paint. I didn't start the paint job yet...I'll probably have to wait till next week. But I'm super excited!

I was also SUPER excited because Phil was going to be home early for me to go to Zumba tonight! YAY! I got dressed, ate dinner, drove down to the gym, went inside, heard Zumba music playing upstairs and *SMACK!*, remembered that Wednesday night Zumba is at 5:30 not 6:30! Sh*t! I am not physically ready for trying the kettlebells class that started at 6:30, so I left (disgruntled) and went to clean the bookstore. Boo!

So I had 2 major brain farts today! I really think it was the lack of sleep. Oh well!

Tomorrow is weigh in day! I'm looking forward to getting on the scale in the morning! Danielle made a good point yesterday. She told me that if I'm looking forward to jumping on the scale, that means I've been doing good all week. Yes ma'am!

Random thoughts.

Ok. so let's start with this morning. I was "scheduled" to wake up at 3:50 am. I don't know what happened, but I didn't wake up till about 8:30 am! YIKES!!! Luckily, the bookstore was ok for baked goods, so I'll just go in tomorrow. WHOOPS!

My best friend and my sister came over for lunch today. I ended up making the roasted tomato soup for lunch and it turned out pretty good. I think it was missing "something" but I don't know what that "something" was...it was good though. We had a good time watching our cute kids playing and being crazy. I, proudly, have the only boy in the group and he is, by far, the LOUDEST, craziest kid of all! Poor Anna kept flinching when he'd SQUEEEEEEAL!!! Man, he's really like a velociraptor (dinosaur). :-/

I made a mean turkey meatloaf for dinner tonight. I didn't get to eat it till about 8pm, but it was good. I'm thankful today for my bro & his girlfriend for watching my kids so I could make it to the gym for BOTH classes tonight! So, I fed them dinner. Hope they liked it! I was dumb and only ate an apple w/ some cheese before working out and I was dying tonight! I definitely need to figure something out that works better to sustain me through the workouts. And I can't eat dinner so close to workout time or else I get a major side ache. Living and learning at the same time, I guess.

Speaking of the gym, OMG! (ohhh...did you hear that "OMG" is now a "word" in the dictionary??? UGH!) Anyways, we had a new trainer for the body cut class and she killed it! I was shaking during & after the class. She did high reps and cardio at the same time...I was DRIPPING sweat on the floor. It was fantastic! Then, we had a packed Zumba class. I thought I was going to throw up from not eating right, but I made it through. I kept slipping in my (or someone else's) sweat from the previous class (YIKES). I fear having to use my arms tomorrow. I think they will tremble with the memory of the body cut class! :-)

On a sad note, I watched Marie Osmond on Oprah this afternoon. She was there to talk about her son, Michael's suicide last year. What a horrible thing to have to go through. The guilt, the questions, the empty hole...I cannot even begin to imagine what that poor woman (and her family) have gone through. I think suicide is the most selfish thing a person can do, but I also believe that someone has to feel extremely desperate to feel the need to end their life. Depression is a real thing and if you are depressed, please talk to someone about it. Get help! Life truly is not as bad as it may feel at that point in time. I especially feel bad for kids these days. All the pressures of school, "friends", "love", etc. are a lot for kids to take. I remember being in high school and feeling that I knew everything and that I was going to be "this way" for the rest of my life. For most, once high school is over, all that crap that you went through is over too. Unless you're one of those weirdos that want to live their high school years for the rest of their lives (you know who I'm talking about!). I'm stepping off my soap box right now...

Addy just told me I "smell like poop"...so I'm taking that as my que to take a shower!

IKEA!

Decided this morning that we would make the trek to IKEA! It's over 100 miles round trip, but always worth it! :-) I found a shelf unit for the hallway...what do you think?

I also was on the search for a kids table for Addy to play with Play-Doh. They had tables that were around $20...but while browsing the store, I found a PERFECT "side table" for $6.99!!! No joke! Take a look:

The stools are from IKEA also! They're light weight plastic and were only $7!!! Now I just need to find a suitable place for the table. (And by the way, I put all these bad boys together myself! They were super easy.)

*CONFESSIONAL*  I ate a cinnamon roll at IKEA! It was super yummy! :-) And I only feel a tiny bit bad.

No gym tonight. Got home too late and hadn't had dinner. I don't like to eat then go work out too soon. I get a tummy ache. But, I did manage to make a really amazing soup! Thai Shrimp Soup from the SBD book. Phil really loved it! I'm hoping I have enough for me to eat for lunch tomorrow. :-/

This week, I planned out all my meals. Wanna see what I'll be eating?
I got caught in TWO down-pours this afternoon while loading stuff into the car! I was SOAKED! But then was able to drive home with sunglasses on. Spring weather is so strange. My grass is growing like a weed, tulip's are starting to sprout and my garden is calling me to come dig around. MORE SUNSHINE PLEASE!!!

Time to take the dog for a walk. No gym = Casey gets to go roam the streets with Mommy. Looking forward to lunch tomorrow w/ some of my favorite gals! :-)

I went and got all the ingredients for meals today and I'm all set for the week. I think I'll make all my snacks ahead of time (tonight) so I can just grab as I need. I bought the Fiber One yogurts yesterday and tried to eat one from breakfast this morning...it was a no go. It was horribly sweet! Bleck! I bought some Chobani Greek yogurt today at Costco and I like that much better.

Support & hallways

Last night we went and spent the evening with our favorite people in Montesano! Chris was so sweet to make a meal that I was able to eat; BBQ'd steak with salad. It was delicious! The BBQ'd steak (made by the boys) makes me so anxious for summer time! Our kids had a fun time playing and destroying the toy room. Every time we get there, Addy automatically wants to change into dress up clothes. This is what we got last night:

Addy was a zombie last night until we left their house around 12:15 am! She was playing quietly with toys while all the other kids were sleeping. Needless to say, she woke up late this morning (10:30)!

As a side note, I'd like to say how thankful I am for all my supportive friends and family. Friday & Saturday nights we spent eating dinner at friend's houses and each time, they made the effort to support my food choices into their dinner plans. I love that and appreciate them so much for helping me along my journey!

We went and had "Family Lunch" this afternoon with Phil's family. It's always nice to get together since we don't often get to spend time with them. Phil's dad, Phil, who will be 91 this year, got to hear all about Addy's toys. She was so cute trying to speak clearly so he could hear and understand her.

Got home a little bit ago and started cleaning up some "catch all" areas. Threw away lots of little things; dried out pens, a broken flashlight, old batteries, old envelopes. It's amazing what we hold on to! Little by little, I'm getting rid of it all!

Ohhh! My hallway is DONE!!! I would like to hand some more pictures, but I need to figure out which ones. I did get a couple hung and I'd like to find a narrow hallway table or shelf to put in there...I'm on the hunt!
This is what the hallway looked like since we moved in. BLECK! Dark, boring, dreary. The door to the right is our bedroom. The door straight ahead is the main bathroom and there is a door to the left which is for Addy & Ross' room. There's also a little coat closet on the left.

This is after I filled in the grooves in the wood paneling with caulk. I think it was a wasted effort, because you can still see the lines after painting. Oh well!

This is after two coats of primer. I ended up doing one more just to be on the safe side. Wood paneling sucks!

And *TADA!* The finished hallway!!! I am amazed at how much bigger and brighter it seems. I should have done this years ago, but I really appreciate it now, so it's all good. :-)

This is a close up of the picture hanging on the main wall. My favorite wedding picture! :-)
I found this light switch cover in a box that I've had since I was in 5th grade. I don't know where or when I got this, but I decided to finally put it to good use. It's a tad "gaudy" but I think it's darling! Now I'm on the hunt for other new, fun, light switch covers. Keep your eyes open for me! :-)

Enough for now. Time to get back to my little project while the babes are sleeping.

Today...is a new day!

Just got home from a lovely evening with Phil's niece, her hubby and they're 5 1/2 month old son. She was so sweet and made me my own pot of chicken & dumpling soup, minus the dumplings! :-) It was Delicious and chock full of veggies. I wanted to take pictures, but silly me didn't charge my battery and it died on me. Oh well.

No workout tonight, but I did get some cleaning done. That counts, right? Cleaned Grandma's house and visited with her for a few hours today. Then came home and cleaned my living room and took the tape off my newly painted hallway walls. If I get pics hung this weekend, I'll be posting pictures later. It looks so much different! I can't wait to get the pictures up! :-)

Tomorrow is a busy day starting w/ body cut & Zumba classes. Can't wait to get my sweat on! Also can't wait to go visit our favorite Montesano family! :-)

I'm in the 2nd phase of the South Beach Diet now and I'm looking forward to adding some fruit back to my eating plan. Tomorrow, strawberries!!! :-)

Day 14...Jumpin' for joy!

I just got home from Zumba and I feel great! My workouts this week weren't happening like I wanted to, but I was still overjoyed that I lost 6 lbs! I'm also excited to announce that my sister has lost 16 lbs also since her start of her journey! We were laughing so hard today because we've lost the same amount on the same day. We're excited to be going through this journey together. Every day or so, we'll text each other a new yummy something or other that we had to eat. Or even, "I really want a cookie! Tell me not to!" hehe

I'm trying to get better about taking more pictures. I think they make the post more "colorful." So let me start this off by saying - I LOVE to cook! "They" say that the mark of a good chef is one who knows how to cook an egg. Not just cook an egg, but REALLY cook an egg! Scrambled, poached, boiled, fried, quiche, etc. I'm not a huge fan of an omelet. If I ever order them in a restaurant, I'm always disappointed because they're runny. I HATE runny eggs! I don't care if that's how they're "supposed" to be! It totally grosses me out! So, today, I attempted (probably my 100th attempt) an omelet! I took my time, nice and easy and this is what I got....

For real! I was so freakin' happy! My first ever REAL omelet!!! And just for the record, those are 2 turkey sausage links...they look kinda lame sitting there by themselves. But they tasted really good! :-) I wonder if I can make a repeat for tomorrow's breakfast??

For dinner, I made a fantastic soup! I once again found the recipe on Kalyn's Kitchen. The recipe was for Chicken, Black Bean & Cilantro Soup and let me say, it was amazing! I should have made a double recipe because there's barely enough for tomorrow's lunch.

It was a little spicy, so if you're not a fan of spicy, be sure to use salsa that isn't too spicy. I did not add the Green Tabasco Sauce because I was afraid of it being too spicy for the kids and I was glad I left it out. I would add it for my own soup though. And be sure to not forget the lime juice!!! It MADE the soup!!!

Update on the Marshall's shopping experience: I received a phone call from the store manager today. She profusely apologized to me and was really embarrassed as to how I was treated. She was very nice and took full responsibility and said she has already had a meeting with her floor managers to correct this issue. I was very happy with our conversation and that she felt responsible for her team. She didn't blame anyone but vowed to take my criticism and fix it. She also offered me a 20% discount if I promise to come to the store again and let them try again. I was shocked and thankful that she offered that. So, soon, I will try again and let them "woo" me! :-)

I think that's it for now friends!

Weigh in day & Zoo pics!

Woke up this morning, jumped on the scale and jumped for joy! Another SIX POUNDS!!!! I am so happy! That makes 16 lbs total that I've lost since Feb. 14th. I'm over half way to my goal of "30lbs by my 30th birthday."

On to pictures...

Momma Tiger

This is the Gibbon pooping...just in case you were curious! haha

Addy watching the elephants

Ross LOVED the aquarium.

This was our favorite spot.

Just watching the news footage of the Navy Sailors coming home to Everett, WA. It always makes me emotional to see those reunions of loved ones who have been apart for so long. I am so thankful for ALL of our military people out there. I don't believe we need to be where we are (trying to fix the world's problems because our country has so many of our own to deal with) but I do support our military members. Always!

Day 13...Zoo doo!

Oy vey! That's what comes to mind as I sit here at the bookstore waiting for this ridiculous brownie cheesecake to finish baking. 30 minutes left! I'm dying to go home!

I was up at 3:50, here to bake at 4, back home to the couch, waited for kids to wake up, and decided since it was sunny out, we were going to take advantage of it and go to the zoo! My best friend and her 3 month old daughter came along and we spent all day there. It was fantastic! Ross had so much fun; especially in the shark viewing area. He's totally such a boy! We had a Tapir try and spray us w/ his pee (hilarious and thankfully we were standing JUST out of range)! We also saw a monkey drop a turd right in front of us. Aimee and I were laughing sooooo hard! Leave it to our dirty imagination to want to take pictures to show to our hubby's! LOL We also got to watch the "baby" tigers play with their mommy. The kids had a great time and they were all so well behaved.I got a couple good pics that I will try and post tomorrow.

After spending all day away from home, I then had to come down to the bookstore to bake for tomorrow's "Downtown Chocolate Parade." I made some killer double chocolate cookies, brownies and the brownie cheesecake that is still baking. I am drowning in the scent of chocolate! Hoping this event turns out to be a great success for our downtown association.

21 minutes left for the cheesecake. Why does the time go so slowly? Ugh! Ok, what else can I blab about to keep me from falling asleep? OMG! This morning, while driving downtown from my house, I saw the RADDEST girl I have ever seen in my WHOLE 29 years of living! She was thin, had skin tight grey "jeggings" (gag!), and the sweetest white hooker boots a girl's ever seen! Get this; the best part of the boots was that the freaking heels were CROOKED! This poor girl (I think she was high...or a hooker....at least these options would make sense) couldn't even walk in these boots. I thought her ankle would snap at any minute! I could not keep my eyes off her! It was amazing! I wish I would have had my camera on me because I totally would have pulled my car over, jumped out and taken a picture of her. :-) Now, I'm not one to judge, but this girl was something else! Kids, stay away from drugs! Just say no!

Tomorrow will be spent at home with our kid friend, Blake. Hoping I'm able to finish painting my hallway and get the house cleaned before the weekend. I'm also hoping to make it to Zumba tomorrow! I'm jones'in for a workout!

14 minutes left....good enough for me. Buenos noches, mi amigos!

Day 12...new projects

No gym tonight. Hubby got home late and I was so focused on my new project that I didn't even realize the time! I've decided I'm DONE with the "wood" paneling in my house, so I'm painting over it. If you've never been to my house, let me see if I can have you visualize it. I have wood (pine-ish? Real hardwood) floors, dark tung & groove ceiling throughout the entire house. The living room/dining room has half wood paneled walls (as if the person tired to do wainscoting? bleck!) and the bedrooms have one full paneled wall. The hallway, which is fairly small, is completely paneled. I'm starting there. It's the darkest, dreariest place in the whole house. Hopefully, some time tomorrow, it will be a shade called "Touch of Lemon." We've lived here for almost 5 years and haven't done many changes to the house, so it's about time. I have a LONG list of changes we'll start making and I can't wait!!! Nothing crazy, just tedious and time consuming. And most of it involving painting, which I loathe!

I've also decided it's time to get all the cr*p out of my house. All the knickknacks and misc. stuff is going. I'm sick of it! This weekend will be spent filling boxes and taking them to the thrift store.

I made a really good roasted pork loin for dinner. I made a "sauce" w/ Dijon mustard, sour cream, fresh ginger, and thyme and smeared it on the loin then roasted it for about 30 minutes till it was done. It was delish!

I'm in a mood tonight and I'm soooo ready for the kids to go to bed! >: [

Day 11...

Is there anything better than someone telling you, "Wow, you look really good! Have you lost weight?" I don't find that offensive and I appreciate it always! :-) I've gotten a couple of those compliments lately and I'm loving it. And I'm only down 10 lbs! I can't wait to lose 20, 30, 40, etc. :-) I'll be happy when I'm not self conscious of every picture taken of me.

I'm starting to drag today. Waking up at 3:50am to go bake is not working for me. But, if I want to get back in time for hubby to go to work, I got'sta go!

There was a reply email to my complaint to Marshall's that I sent off the other day. The reply was interesting in the fact that it really p*ssed me off! The "complaint officer" thanked me for writing and said that she forwarded my letter to the correct store manager. She then proceeded to give me the name and number of said store manager and told me to call her because "she really would like to apologize." Are you freakin' kiddin' me??? I have to call her? "Yum, yes, Manager of Lacey Marshall's, my name is Janeen and I'm calling so you can apologize to me." Right! Can you imagine!? So, I replied, "Thank you for responding to me. Don't want to sound like a b*tch, but my time is important too, so you can give the manager my phone number and email (which you have) and if she really wants to apologize, I'll be expecting a phone call or email any day." I was FUMING!!!! hehe We'll see where that leads! :-)

No gym tonight. I had a staff meeting to go to. But I ate dinner before I went (spicy shrimp & bok choy stir fry...mmmmm) and had a small salad at the meeting. Right now, I'm making a shopping list for this weeks upcoming "Chocolate Parade" for downtown Shelton. I will be baking lots of chocolate yumminess for the bookstore! The great part: I'm ok with not eating any! Of course, when I smell that brownie cheesecake baking, I may have different thoughts running through my head, but as of right now, I'm good.

Tomorrow, on to another crazy busy day! Time to wind down and get the babes ready for bed.

*Funny of the day* I was having Ross repeat (attempting) colors to me the other day. "Say 'red'" , "rah", "Say 'orange'" , "Nana!" ....(oranges, bananas, get it?) hehehehe It makes me laugh every time! :-)

Day 10...I've been tempted!

Yes, I was tempted by birthday cake and I gave in. And it was delicious. But I stopped there! I had one small piece and it was great! Normally, I would have had a piece of both kinds of b-day cake after eating the nummy dinner that Kath made. I only ate salad instead of gorging myself on lasagna, ravioli, and garlic bread. We had a great time and that was all that mattered.

Spent a quite Sunday with the kids while hubby golfed with my dad. Got some laundry done, but the pile just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I despise laundry! Even more than dishes! I also made my list of spring cleaning that we need to get done around the house. I'll be adding a few items each day for my regular "chores" and I can't wait for the weather to get nicer so we can start working outside. We tore up our backyard last fall, so this spring/summer will be our first with our new lawn. We need to get it into tip-top shape! I'm ready for BBQ's and eating dinner outside.

I'm also ready for nightly walks. I'm kicking around the idea of doing a 5K. I'm not a runner, never have been, but I've always wanted to like it. So I'm going to start "training" for a 5K. That is one of my goals during this journey of mine and why not start now? I'm starting to get into better shape, so might as well try it out! There's a 5K that happens during Forrest Festival and that's at the end of May, so I think that's a good amount of time to work on it. Wish me luck! I'll need it! haha

Day 9...I love crab!

Did my 2 hour gym classes today and Body Cut kicked my butt! My legs were draggin' through Zumba, I almost thought I wouldn't make it. But I made myself finish and it felt great! But then I got home and fell asleep on the couch. I was out for the count! I have a feeling my legs will be extra sore tomorrow. Luckily, I don't have much to do. :-)

Went with some of my family to a benefit crab feed/auction tonight at the school I went to from K-8th grades. It's for the Kiwanis's club. We've been going for probably 6 years now and this was probably the most crowded we'd ever seen it. It was great! We also had so much fun bidding on the auction items. My dad won a skydiving trip! Phil and I won a 2 night stay at a resort up in Birch Bay (near the Canadian border). It's the resort that we stayed at when we got engaged 6 1/2 years ago. We laughed when we saw it on the list of auction items. It'll be great to go see it again. It's soooo gorgeous up there!

I was so glad when I read in my SBD book that all shellfish is ALLOWED!!! Yay! So I was able to really enjoy my crab & clams and can I just say, they were DELICIOUS!!!

I have lots of veggies I need to use, so tomorrow will be choc-full of veggies for us. Have you ever had Bok Choy? If you've never tried it, you should. It's wonderful! I use it in stir fry. That's probably what I'll make is stir fry. That's a great, simple way to use lots of veggies. Plus, my kids LOVE it! Lots of garlic & ginger...mmmm.

Off to watch a movie with Addy. She's obsessed with the movie "Hook" w/ Robin Williams right now. :-) So I'm sure that will be her choice, again!

Day 8

Well, let's see. Nothing too exciting to report today. We were on the go again all day. No exercise, but that's normal for my Friday. Tomorrow is my killer gym day, so I save my strength.

Made baked salmon for dinner tonight. Yum!! We don't eat fish very much and I always get mad at myself for not cooking it more often. We really enjoy it but I just don't think about it. We stopped at the store tonight and I didn't know what to make. I asked my niece what she wanted for dinner and she said "PIZZA!" I told her no to pizza because that's what we eat almost every time she's over at my house...so it was time for a change. She likes salmon, it was on sale, easy to cook: perfect dinner! haha

My niece Baylee is 9 and she and Addy get along pretty well. It's been awhile since she's stayed the night, so we went and picked her up from school today and we're having a "slumber party." She's a big helper! Gets on my nerves sometimes, but I love her anyways.

The 3 of us (Baylee, Addy & I) had a HUGE chore to do when we got home. I decided it was time to go through all of the kids' toys and purge. I had the girls take EVERY toy (from totes, cabinets, toy boxes, under the couch, etc) and pile them all in the middle of the bedroom. OMG! The pile was HUGE! I was a tad bit shocked, to tell you the truth. So, we all sat on the floor and started separating all the toys into the canvas cubes and plastic totes that they have in their shelving units. We got rid of 3 large boxes of toys! I told Addy we'd have a garage sale when the weather gets nicer and all the money we make from toys will go to our Disneyland trip. She was really excited about that! Made tossing those toys that much easier. Phew! One thing off my spring cleaning list.

I'm excited to go to the gym tomorrow. Bodycut then Zumba! I'm so ready for nice weather...hoping the sun comes out like they say it's supposed to on Sunday. We need some family time outside of the house. :-)

More tomorrow friends!

Day 7....cont'd

Just got home from a great night at Zumba! For some reason *ahem* (St. Patty's day) I decided to wear a green t-shirt to the gym. It's kind of a bright, lime colored (but not neon) shirt but when I left, it was almost Forrest green! Sweet!

My dinner of green things and corned beef was a huge hit!!! I had my parents and niece over and even my niece, who could be entered into the "World's Pickiest Eater" contest, LOVED it!!! I loved it too, but unfortunately, I didn't give myself enough time to digest before working out, so now I feel kinda sick. :-( I guess it was worth it though. I made the BEST roasted cabbage I've ever had in my life! Kalyn's Kitchen is where I found the recipe for Roasted Cabbage with Lemon. I stumbled across her blog last week and she is amazing!!! Check out her story when you get a chance. If you love food or love to cook, you'll love her blog. And, she's talkin' the talk!

I've received many congrats messages from friends and I love it. I can't wait to keep posting those losses. I'm feeling the best I've felt in a VERY long time and I know it's because I'm taking care of my body for the first time in a VERY long time. A couple months ago, I never would have been able to wake up at 4 am, been on the go all day, worked out at night and still have energy to come home and be a wife (get your mind's out of the gutter!). Don't get me wrong, I'm beat! BUT, I still went and worked out! For an hour! And loved it!!! So thank you all for your support. That is one of the main reason's I'm doing this blog.

Buenos noches, mi amigos!

Day 7...Yes I can!!!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!

Woke up at 4am! OUCH! Got to the bookstore, baked tons of goodies (should I tell you? Ok, I will...maple walnut scones, lemon poppyseed muffins, Carrot/Bran muffins, brownies, almond cream danishes, and cookies...mmmm) and no, I didn't eat any!

Got home, took my clothes off (sorry) and weighed in. Oh yeah baby! 6 lbs down in 1 week! I am super excited!!! I'm down a total of 10 lbs since I've joined the gym. :-) I know the first few weeks I will lose a lot of weight and then it will slow down. And I'm totally ok w/ that. I was just stoked to see that number on the scale and I had to count it 4 times to make sure it was right! hehe *Pat on back*

We have our friend Blake here for the day. He's 4 and he comes to play every Thursday. I thought I'd be brave and take all three kids to the store with me. Yeah, I doubt I'll be doing that again anytime soon. :-/ But, I am happy to announce that I got my corned beef & cabbage for St. Patty's day dinner tonight. Now, I doubt corned beef is a great choice for dinner (for me), but I'm going to eat a little and love every bite! We will be having a totally green themed dinner: (besides the corned beef), cabbage, asparagus, salad, endamame, honeydew melon, green grapes and maybe even some green sugar free jello for dessert. We'll see if Addy notices the theme. :-)

Also, at the store, I stocked up on all my emergency/disaster preparedness supplies! With all these earthquakes happening and the nuclear crap that's going down in Japan, I thought now's the time to do it. I won't live in fear, but I'll feel better knowing that if (when) something happens, my family will be able to stick it out for a few days. I hope this can get you motivated to get some sort of plan ready for your own family. There are MANY resources online that give great advice on what to stock up on and have ready for when a disaster strikes.

I'm really looking forward to Zumba tonight! 7pm won't come fast enough. Have a great day friends!

DING!

I knew that thought would come back to my head. Thankfully it was not at 1am! If you're reading this post and are confused, go to the previous post (Day 6...woot woot).

Here's the amazing thought I had. Are you ready? I really hope you're sitting on the edge of your seat with excitement over this thought that you're about to be privy to....

Ok, so I've always wanted to speak w/ an "accent." In my head, I can speak w/ any accent I want. Australian, British, Scottish, Irish, Russian, Hispanic, Boston, Chicago, LA (yes, LA peeps have an accent!), etc. In my head though, I probably "speak" best with Southern accent. "Ya'll" Anyways, not to be rude/disrespectful/judgemental/etc. but out of all those accents, I would never want to sound like a "Southerner." I, unfortunately, associate Southern accents w/ dumb people to be completely honest. Just like I associate the British accent w/ smart people. Now, I know, with out a shadow of a doubt, that this statement is not fair. There are some smart Southern people (enter smart person here) and some really dumb British people (ditto). But, no matter what, when I hear a Southern accent, I automatically picture "Larry the Cable Guy" and it makes me want to puke! And even worse, I associate that accent w/ racist attitudes. :-/ I don't understand the people out there who think it's "cool" to be "redneck" or "hick."  Why is that cool? Please, enlighten me.

Ok, that's my thought provoking rant for the evening. Don't you wish that thought would have disappeared from my brain for good??? hehehe

Day 6...woot woot!

Ok, so I didn't die when I got out of bed this morning. YAY! I woke up and thought to myself, "Hmmm, I'm not as sore as I thought I would be...strange?" But, after cleaning mirrors, scrubbing tubs and floors, I'm realizing how very sore my arms are NOW! haha

I made my first trip to Marshall's today (like Ross, but way nicer). I was pleasantly surprised. And, I now have a place to shop for a cute outfit when I lose my first 30 lbs! :-) But, I did have to write a letter to them complaining on the horrible customer service I recieved while paying for my items. So, we'll see if they respond and that will dictate whether or not I go back again.

I didn't get to workout tonight due to my Wednesday night cleaning job. But, I did work up a sweat twice today from cleaning. Wednesday's are my two cleaning job days. It's light excersize, but better than none at all.

I ate really well today, but it was kind of boring. Leftovers, even though they were yummy! :) Tomorrow, for St. Patty's day, I'm going to make a new recipe for roasted cabbage w/ lemon and I'm super excited to test it out! I LOVE cabbage! I will also be making corned beef, but eating just a little bit. We will be having a green themed dinner and I'm excited to see if Addy notices. :-)

Today was kind of un-eventful, so I'm thinking my blog is un-eventful too. I had a really great thought that I wanted to post while I was vaccuming, but since I didn't write it down immediately, it's lost! It will probably wake me up at 1am with a loud "DING!", so maybe I'll tell you this great thought tomorrow? haha

Tomorrow, is my weigh in day! I am weirdly excited to check my numbers. Fingers crossed please!

Off to finish my cottage cheese...mmmm!

Day 5...OMG! Bring it onnnnn!!!

Wow! That's the word that comes to mind right at this moment. But let me back it up for you from wayyyyyyy back at 5am this morning.........

I woke up, sloppily got dressed, dashed through the pouring ran and got to the bookstore at 5:10 am. They didn't need much today, so I wasn't there for long. Came home, crashed on the couch till 7:30ish.

Woke the kiddos up, dressed them (sloppily), drove them to Auntie's house, then made a mad dash for the other side of town for a cleaning job. *side note* Besides being a stay at home mommy, part time baker and and wanna-be workout fanatic, I clean houses. Scrubbed, wiped, sparkled my way through 2 hrs of cleaning all while dripping sweat (it was really hot in there!). Job done!

Drove back, picked up kiddos, went to the store to stock up on fruits for the kids. Came home, had to give the dog a much needed bath (for some strange reason, I decided to leave him outside today while we were gone. Bad idea!), made an AMAZING turkey meatloaf (recipe soon to follow)!!!

While preparing the meatloaf, I proceeded to slice the HEAVENS out of my finger!!! Many deep breaths, curse words, jumping up and down, squeezing the blood out, I decided I didn't need stitches, so a Band Aid would suffice. Phew!

Here, the WOW factor comes into place: I went and left a few gallons of sweat at the gym! First, Body Cut class for 1 hr. And since I was still able to stand, why not another hour of Zumba right afterwards? Sure, why not? ha. ha. ha. My clothes were literally sopping wet! But guess what? I freakin' LOVED it!!! I won't love it tomorrow when it's time to get outta bed, but I'm on cloud 9 right now. :-)

Told you I was going to have a crazy busy day today!

And thank goodness I got all my food ready last night for the day. That made things sooooo much easier! I didn't have to think about it. Gotta do that for tomorrow also. :-)

Now, I'm off!

Day 4...Zumba, wooo!

Going strong and lovin' it! Is it strange that I'm looking forward to see what the scale tells me later this week? Probably, but that's ok. Gotta get excited about the small stuff.

I made a killer salad today for lunch!

It was actually too much for me! Romaine, topped w/ tuna, 1/2 c white beans, chopped tomato, cucumber & celery. Yummy! But I think I had too much Romaine, so I wasn't able to finish it. Ross LOVED the beans!!! He kept asking for more and how can I say no to that little face? :-)

For dinner, I made a really great chili. There was no meat, just lots of veggies & beans. And you know the song? Sing it w/ me..."beans, beans, the magical fruit. The more you eat, the more you...." you know how it ends. :-) The kids got a kick out of me singing that to them. They also LOVED the chili!

Addy gave me a thumbs up and told me she wanted to eat it for breakfast. Ross had 2 helpings and there was barely any in his chair. Normally, half his food ends up in his seat so Casey (the dog) has his dinner. :-) Thankfully, no beans for the dog!

I am also thankful for the fact that my hubby got home early enough for me to go to Zumba tonight! I only went once last week, but got right back in there tonight. It was jam packed, hotter than Hades, and a blast! I was literally dripping sweat (into my eyes!) and lovin' every minute of it. We have such fun instructors!

Tomorrow, I have a crazy busy day, so I need to go get my meals ready. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday tomorrow!

PS: As a side note, I am super excited to announce that the ADAGE biomass incinerator trying to weasel it's way into Mason County has finally given up! Wooo hoooo!!! Way to go all you supporters out there who stood their ground and spoke up for our beautiful county!

Proud day for me!

Today, it was rainy, dreary, and I had to be up early to bake. So I took my little man (his sister got to stay w/ Gramma & Papa last night) with me and he was amazing! He sat in his pack & play the entire time (3 hrs) and played w/ his trucks, watched me bake, and made cute faces (not hard for him). He didn't start to whine till it was just about time to go. Success!

We went to my friend's amazing baby shower in the afternoon. What a turnout! She was literally SHOWERED with gifts for her new baby girl. It was really fun to see her face light up as she opened all the darling gifts (she presently has 2 boys)! There was soooo many wonderful, delightful, scrumptious desserts for all to eat and I can honestly say, I did not even taste anything!!! I ate lunch before I left (a really great salad w/ grilled steak, bell peppers, cucumbers, & water chestnuts) so I wouldn't be hungry aka tempted! Thanks to Leslie & Taylor for trying to make me believe that the cupcakes were horrible :-) *wink wink* Success!

After the shower, we went to my sister's house for an impromptu dinner. My mom was going to make lasagna, but I reminded her that my sis & I weren't eating that stuff right now. So she was totally game to change her plans and make stir fry. OMG! Let me just say how much I LOVEEEEE stir fry!!! Broccoli, bok choy, asparagus, bell pepper, onions, ginger, garlic, steak...HEAVEN! It was beautiful and delicious! And I ate it without the rice. Success!

I'm feeling great about today. I'm right on track and excited for the week ahead. My hubby is going to try & be home in time for me to make it to Zumba tomorrow. I missed it all last week! So I'm totally ready to get back in there and shake it! Yes, like a Polaroid picture! Love OutKast! haha

I had my camera on me and I got so engrossed in my dinner that I forgot to take a picture of the stir fry masterpiece. I'm going to try and make that a habit to take photo's of good things throughout the day.

More tomorrow friends!

Day 2...Houston, we HAD a problem!

So, today, wasn't great! I'm definitely learning that I am, for sure, an emotional eater. I was stressed out with my kids and frustrated with my hubby, so I left for some much needed MOMMY TIME!!! I went to see a movie, got popcorn (not allowed, but enjoyed in the moment), ate the popcorn, hated the movie, so then I decided to see another movie. I was gone from my house for a little more than 5 hours. Of course, after eating the popcorn, I was mad at myself, but hey, it happens. Back on!

I made a really great dip for veggies this morning for my snack. It was 1 cup of low fat cottage cheese, 1 mashed avocado, 1/4 of an onion - chopped, 1/4 cup chopped cilantro. I had about 1/3 of it. It was Delicious!!! I had it w/ celery and bell pepper chunks. Matter of fact, I may have to grab some right now! :-)

Tomorrow, I have to be up and at 'em early to go bake. Then I get to go to a dear friend's baby shower! Not looking forward to the food choices that will be there, but it's ok, I'll eat before I go. No worries.

Hoping that you noticed the new ticker that I added a little bit ago. That was fun "designing." Looking forward to seeing the ticker actually start moving! My weigh in days are on Thursday mornings...so stay tuned!

Don't forget to "Spring ahead" tonight before going to bed!!! I can't believe it's already that time of year and I am soooo ready for more sunshine!!!

Should I...

Hello again! I'm wondering if I should save all my thoughts/info/etc till the end of the day, or post multiples throughout the day??? What do you think? One long one or a few shorter ones? Just a thought.

I went shopping and spend $200 (ouch) on groceries! Thank goodness for Costco! I got almost all the veggies that I needed lots of (ie: lettuce, mixed greens, spinach, etc) for really cheap. My refrigerator's (yes, we have 2) look amazing!!!

I also stocked up on lean ground turkey, pork loin & turkey sausage but I didn't want to show you my freezers just yet. I need to organize them! haha I need to spend some time preparing my veggies and get them cut up and divided for the meals ahead.

Did you know that Top Food & Drug has the most AMAZING salad bar??? I went there with the kids today for lunch and it was wonderful! And, I don't know if it was on sale or not, but it was $5.99/lb! My huge salad was less than $6!

I'm feeling really good today. I had my snacks and haven't felt hungry at all. Time to go make some dinner; steaks w/ mixed green salad (w/ cantaloupe for the kids). Hoping my hubby gets home in time so I can go to the gym tonight! I haven't worked out since Monday; ugh!

Day 1...

Good morning! I started the morning off baking at the bookstore. Thank goodness I've got some self control because those Lemon Poppyseed muffins were so very tempting! (For those of you who don't know; I have been baking for Sage Bookstore for the past few months. I do all their baked goods in their newly added kitchen for their espresso counter.) I was up at 5:00am, down there for 2 hrs.

When I got home, I was starving! Thank goodness I had some mini "quiches" ready to eat. They are muffin sized crustless quiches that I made w/ chopped broccoli, red bell pepper, mushrooms & eggs and they are delicious!!

I'm going shopping today to stock up on 2 weeks worth of groceries. The 1st 2 weeks of the South Beach Diet (SBD) are the "toughest." No bread, pasta, potatoes, or even fruit. I read the book last night and it explained why this step is neccesary. It's to get my blood sugar levels regulated and knock out the cravings for sugar and bad carbs. After the first 2 wks, I will gradually add whole grains, good carbs & fruit back into my every day life.

Ross is done w/ his breakfast! More later...

Here we go!

Hello friends! Today, I am starting my journey on The South Beach Diet and I've decided to blog about it as I go! I need some accountibility.. My goal, for now, is to lose 30 lbs by my 30th birthday. I have until September 18th of this year to do that. 30 lbs is a starting point for me because I have about 90 lbs to lose to get to my "ideal" weight. This "ideal" weight is not my choice, but it's what "they" (whoever "they" are), say I should weigh with my height, etc. I'd be happy losing 75 lbs, so either way, I have a journey ahead of me. I went and purchased the newest version of The South Beach Diet Super Charged book (at Sage Bookstore) and I was excited to see their expanded food list. I've made my shopping list and I'm ready to go shopping first thing tomorrow morning. I'd love support, prayers, well wishes, recipes, applause and encouragement as I go! Thanks for reading; more tomorrow.
